HELP ME SUPPORT

COMMUNITY CONNECTION

Why I Support Embrace Kulture:

East Africa gave me so much, in my childhood years. I spent five years living ‘next door’ to Uganda – in Kenya – from the age of seven, and in that time gained a deep love for the people and culture. A desire to give back has run deep ever since. I have sponsored East African children for 25 years, and Embrace Kulture’s work to find, care for, educate and value Uganda’s hidden children is a wonderful, natural extension of that. I am humbled by the real difference this small but mighty team is making to so many lives, and honored to play a part in that.

What Program I'm Passionate About:

All of our programs are important, but I am particularly passionate about Community Connection: empowering the community to be the agent of change. One of Embrace Kulture’s central challenges is to ensure that hidden children, once found and cared for, can one day safely reintegrate into the community that had previously rejected them. This is achieved by working closely and intentionally with that community to foster greater understanding, inclusivity and acceptance. Community Connection is key to ensuring that Embrace Kulture’s work is sustainable over the long-term, and that the children we support will continue to thrive after they have left our day-to-day care.
