IN UGANDA, CHILDREN WITH INTELLECTUAL DISABILITIES  ARE, NEGLECTED, ABUSED AND HIDDEN AWAY.

Ugandan children with disabilities are literally hidden—locked in homes and subjected to inhumane treatment, often involving traditional remedies and healing practices. In the U.S. and other western countries, beliefs like these might seem unimaginable. Yet, in Uganda, they are real. Parents rely on cultural beliefs that their child is “cursed” or “possessed.” They blame themselves for their child’s disability, hide their child away and seclude themselves.

EmbraceKulture is working to provide support for these parents. We go into the community to find hidden children, bring together parents in support groups and then provide trainings on at home therapy and advocacy.

Ambassadors have joined together around the world to lead the campaign for No More Hidden Children. Ambassadors give a voice to the voiceless and help bring attention to this critical issue!

JOIN THE MOVEMENT TO CREATE A WORLD WITH NO MORE HIDDEN CHILDREN!

It costs on average  $16 for our team in Uganda to find a hidden child.

  • $48:  Help us identify 3 hidden children

  • $100:  Sponsor a local radio ad to spread an awareness message to 3,000 listeners

  • $200:  Sponsor a tv segment  to spread an awareness message to 10,000 viewers

  • $500:  Sponsor a full community event to spread awareness and foster inclusion, an event that is essential to creating a culture of acceptance at the homes fo children with disabilities

We've set a goal of $2,000 and if we achieve our goal the donation will be matched and we will bring 125 children out of hiding.
